Birds, Butterflies and Bunnies
February
Birds, Butterflies and Bunnies opens today and runs through April 24. Slonem, known as "The Birdman," paints images of birds that are recognized for their color and giddy sense of excess. His paintings have been bought by the Whitney, Guggenheim, and Smithsonian museums.

Whereas birds do it for Slonem, horses bring out the painter in Donna Long, whose "Survey of Recent Works" also shows at the museum today through April 24. Long has a background in photography, having shot the Dalai Lama and other spiritual bigwigs while an artist in residence in New York City. She came to painting in her 60s and channels her love of horses into vibrant equine portraits. Tickets cost $10.
