A Jewish Tour of the Fort Lauderdale Riverfront Area

Join Mosaic for a walking tour of the historic downtown riverfront area. The first Jewish settlers arrived in Broward County in 1910 and were instrumental in contributing to the building of the city of Fort Lauderdale. The tour will focus on the architecture, history, and Jewish influence on the area. This event will start on Sunday, December 6, 2009, 10 a.m.
Meet in front of Tarpon Bend, 200 SW 2 St., on Himmarshee St., just west of Riverfront.
Directions: Take I-95 to Broward Blvd, and go east to SW 5th Ave. Turn right on SW 5th Ave, or any of the next three right turns, and look for a parking lot or meter. Lots will be less expensive than the parking garages which can charge up to $12 per day.
Bring Water, sun screen, snacks for the walk if you want, and money for the pit stop. If you're planning on staying for the Jazz Brunch bring a lawn chair or blanket, lunch including beverage and/or money for purchasing food from restaurant vendors. Don't forget money for parking.

On Friday, the Street Fair gets under way. The Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, a division of Nova Southeastern University, will present one of the community's most prestigious art shows as the organization's National Art Festival returns to South Florida Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1, 2009. A suggested $3 to $5 per person voluntary admission donation is requested, which also includes admission into the Museum.
